LANGUAGE ARTS
As a class, we read a non-fiction passage about reindeer. They students highlighted important information and then worked on comprehension questions independently.
The students worked on a new writing project this week based on the book "Reindeer of the Year" by Rosie Greening. After working together to brainstorm adjectives for different parts of a reindeer, the students created their own version of a reindeer, including a description, a special talent and name. They wrote a paragraph from the perspective of a talent show announcer, persuading the audience that their reindeer should win the "Reindeer of the year"! After writing their paragraph, they worked with a partner on some peer editing.
The students look forward to seeing Sam every morning. They have been working hard on writing "good" sentences and thinking of different verbs everyday.
MATH
We continued working on regrouping ones to tens and then the students were introduced to regrouping tens to hundreds. They have spent a lot of time practicing as this is an important concept to master before moving onto three digit addition.
SOCIAL
We finished reading about India in the textbook, learning about goods and services, import and export and the different geographical regions in India.
